They have been working on this road for about 3-4 years, and still it is not finished. You will find potholes, differences in level, and some ongoing road works.

The road is in good condition, however they are redoing the pavement and there are traffic lights. Traffic can become slow at rush hours.

This road is absolutely horrible, but the landscape is however beautiful.

The road is in good condition and only until Turda town is 4 lanes. At the exit in Turda expect heavy traffic from the ongoing works at the Transylvania highway.

Road in perfect condition. Mind the wild animals crossing the road at night.

Serious road works are taking place and they are not properly signalized. Drive with caution, especially during the night. Some parts of the road have been finished, but the markings have not been done. Estimate at least 1 hour for this small distance of 50 km.

The road is in good condition, a few differences in level.

As long as you are on the DN 79A, the road is in good condition. However, after entering the DJ 793 pay a lot of attention to the potholes.

Please mind the potholes on this road, there are plenty of them, and not always small.

The road has recently been redone, so it is in good shape. A few minor potholes still exist through until you pass Salasu de Jos village.

The condition of the road is very good, and the landscape is quite beautiful. Again, another better alternative to reach Timisoara even if the distance is longer.

Very good condition of this road, with an exception at the exit from Resita where they are doing some road works. Enjoy the landscape.

The road is in good condition. Beautiful landscape!

The road is in good condition, and becomes 4 lanes from Sag village.

The road has potholes and differences in level. Needs to be redone.

Road works are being done on this road, so drive carefully. The road is tight on a lot of portions, but there are no serious problems besides the works being done. Pay attention at Lainici where there is a bridge with a two way traffic.

Road construction is occurring on this road, some portions of the road will require careful driving. There will be some serious potholes on the way, so drive with care. There are also traffic lights.

The road is quite good. There is some road construction taking place after Cazanesti village in the curves. The traffic is usually heavy.

The highway is in good condition but there are no gas stations, or good parkings to stop and rest. Do not expect to find toilets either.

This road is another option to reach Galati, with a few minor potholes, but nothing very serious.

Very good condition of this road. Crossing with the ferry costs 17 lei for the car and driver and 1 leu additional for each passenger.

The condition of the road is good with a few exceptions. In one point there are a few meters of cubic stone road, but it does not have differences in level, and before Ciucurova you should expect some serious potholes for a few hundred meters right before the junction with DN 22A.

This road is ongoing construction, but, with the exception of the delays and the traffic due to the works, it is in good condition for driving. Drive with care though.

The road is good with the exception of some road works being done between Sibiu and Medias after Saliste, and a serious difference of level before Apoldu de Sus village.

The road is fairly good. From Albesti Paleologu locality, you will have 4 lanes. Mind the traffic speed radars.

The road is newly redone so it is a very good route to avoid Brasov if you are heading to Bacau from either Sighisoara or Fagaras.

The road is in good condition.

The road is in good condition.

The condition of the road is pretty good with one or two exceptions where there is a serious difference in level, and maybe a few minor potholes, otherwise it is a very good option to reach Brasov if you want to avoid the slow traffic on DN1. The landscape on this road is very beautiful as well, with few villages, and not that many tourists.

The road is fairly good with only a few exceptions of minor potholes.

Very good condition of this road. You should be careful at the new round junctions that have been constructed.

Until you reach the Gura Apelor Lake, you will have some potholes on the way. The road has been redone this summer but not for its entire length. From the Lake you can continue until you reach Gura Bucurei in the Retezat National Park. You will have to cross the barrier( a tax is required), and from there the road is forestry, but with gravel. PLEASE PROTECT THE NATURE! NO FIRES OR TRASH!

The road is in good condition and some portions have been redone. You can have a very beautiful view over the Retezat Mountains from here.

The road has recently been redone and it is in a very good condition.

The road has some ongoing works happening, and during the night you should pay more attention since the works are not properly signalized. Drive with even more care if it is raining, since the white markings on the road are not visible.

The road is in good condition with no real issues and it is a good border crossing into Hungary.

The condition of the road is good, but there are minor potholes, so be prepared to avoid them.

The road is good, and on some portions even very good. Watch the potholes.

Some portions of the road are in good condition, but there are also some serious potholes as well.

This road is not good at all, and for sure it should not be used as a connection for E68/ DN 7.

This is a shortcut for the ones trying to get to Alba Iulia coming from Orastie. Even if the road sign says the road is closed, the truth is that the road was closed so that they could work in peace without the heavy traffic. The road is great. Smooth surface and it saves you about 9 km.

The road is in good condition. There are differences in level and some minor potholes.

This road is very good with 3 exceptions: the road is not finished for about 200 meters before the quarry, and in the villages Subcetate and Zetea it really needs to be redone. The scenery is absolutely beautiful, and the villages you pass through have amazing wooden gates, and if you are lucky you will see the young people dressed in their traditional costumes.

Excellent condition of this 4 lane European road (highway). Watch out for the speed radars, there are plenty of them.

Excellent condition!

The road has had some repairs done in august 2008, so its condition has improved a lot. Some minor differences in level and potholes are still to be found

The road is good with minor potholes and after exiting Bicaz some minor road work is in progress. At the entrance in Piatra Neamt the road could do with some repairs.

This road is drivable. Occasional potholes and some road works are being done.

This road is OK with the exception of some road works being done in Valea Lunga villahe at the crossing of train tracks, the bridge over the Valea Lunga river and at the bridge at the cross roads towards Seica Mica. Minor potholes are around.

This road is in good condition. Haven’t noticed anything out of the ordinary (maybe some minor potholes after Medias towards Sibiu). Take some time to visit the wonderful fortresses and churches on the way.

Even if the road does not start very promising in Cristuru Secuiesc, after a few km you will have a wonderful surprise since the road is very nice and well done. In Mihaielesti though, one of the bridges was not redone, so you should drive carefully.

The road has some serious potholes. Expect differences in level.

The road is quite good until Cristuru Secuiesc, but between Cristuru Secuiesc and Vanatori it needs to be redone (some differences in level, and occasional potholes are around).

They have been redoing this road quite nicely, but they are still working on it. I noticed at least 3 light stops due to this on this short portion of the road.

This road is in good condition and it has been redone on serious lengths. Road construction is still ongoing, and if you are driving during the night, the road might not be properly signalized. Also be careful since the road marking is not finished yet.

This road is still under construction but big parts of it are finished. My estimate is that about 20 km of road are pretty much requiring at least 1 hour of your time, since there are many light stops, traffic is done on a single lane, and the road surface is very bad. If you do not mind the dust on the car and the slow traffic than I guess it is ok, but if you do…than wait until the road it is finished, my guess next year :).

The views on this road are just fantastic. These are the prettiest view of the Danube I ever saw. This however doesnt change the fact that the road is under construction for about 50 km from Orsova towards Moldova Veche. They are still working on bridges and so on. Big portions of the road are already finished, and they are working hard and fast. I recommend just driving slowly and enjoy the landscape.

The road has no potholes, and the surface is ok. It is narrow though, so you should treat it more as a side road and dont overdo it with the speed.

The road condition is quite good, and no serious problems have been noticed on it.

This road enters my category of really bad roads I have drove on in Romania. I am assuming they tried to prepare it for being redone and now it is just filled with small differences in level that makes your car tremble. Again it is worth being on it due to the Gods Bridge and Cave, and 2 other impressive reservations.

Some portions of this road have been redone, while others have to be redone. Some potholes and differences in level are around. You should drive quite slow in the villages, because the street is narrow and people seem to make a habit by standing on the road. Despite all this, the road is truly beautiful with amazing views of the mountains in the Domogled - Valea Cernei National Park.

Before reaching Cristian from Sibiu, take a right when the sign tells you to for Ocna Sibiului. This road has seen better days, but is drivable and some portions of the road have been redone.

Surprising as it is for such a secondary road, this one is drivable and in a condition much better than expected. Though there are 3 major potholes that you should be aware of coming from Slimnic. Drive carefully.

The road is very good with the exception of about 10 km from Petru Voda village to Pluton village, where the road crosses through the woods and road works are being done due to the land sliding that happened after the floods in august.

This road has occasional small potholes, but it could really use a new layer of pavement, since it has so many differences in level that the car will really tremble from all connections.

The road is in good overall condition. Occasional differences in level and some minor potholes.

Until reaching the E85/DN 2, the road could use a new layer of pavement, but overall it is ok. They are still working on reconstructing the bridge at the exit of Timisesti village over the Moldova river, so mind the traffic lights installed there.

The road at the exit from Toplita and inside the town is quite bad, with potholes, differences of level and road works done at the bridge right at the exit towards Borsec. From this point forward the road is very nice and smooth, with beautiful landscapes. The good news even is that they finished working at the bridge at the tail of the Izvorul Muntelui Lake (Bicaz Lake), at which they have worked for about 1 year.

The road is in very good condition, with the exception of Gheorgheni streets. Mind the curves.

The road is in very good condition.

Road works are being done at the exit from Sebes, but from there the road is quite nice, with a smooth surface.

This road is probably one that you will like to avoid, despite the pretty forest it passes through, and the lovely hills. From Cunta to Spring the road is surprisingly nice, but from Spring to Rosia de Recas the road is…well …filled with potholes, after this point is drivable.

This road is in a perfect condition, with a scenery that will take your breath away. Enjoy the drive!

Until you have reached Voineasa prepare yourself for some serious potholes and bad road, especially at the Groapa Seaca pass, where there is only gravel. The only good thing about this road are the wonderful sights of the Parang mountains and Vidra lake. I can’t guarantee that the Pass is drivable in winter.

Since the road is leading to the border crossing into Hungary it has recently been redone. You might encounter some other works on this portion of the road.

This road has quite a few potholes and a lot of differences in level. The landscape is quite nice though, and if you pay attention to the road, you will not have any major problems.

The road is in quite a bad shape with differences in level and plenty potholes.

The state of this road is ok, but there are potholes. In Valea lui Mihai village, towards the border with Hungary, there were some road works in progress.

This road is in a very good condition.

Excellent condition of this road. The cities make an exception.

From Bucharest until Calugareni, the road could use some new pavement (potholes/ differences in level), but from Calugareni until Giurgiu, the road is in perfect conditions, with 4 wide lanes.

The road is in good condition, with nothing serious to report.

This portion of the road is in good condition without any shocking events, but… the road in Comana village is the worse I have ever seen anywhere. Forestry roads were a better choice than driving on the actual street.

Please pay attention! In Calugareni there will be a marking sending you this way to Comana. DO NOT TAKE THIS ROAD!!!! The road is not paved, and this is not all, the differences in level or the potholes… well you can actually hide a car in them, and I am not joking here. AVOID!

Highway in a very good condition. In autumn and winter fog is present. They are working at extending the highway at the entry of Ploiesti so please drive with caution.

Serious land sliding occurred here in 2006. The road is again cemented since Ceausescu’s time, for a good part of the length. Plenty of potholes. It is drivable…with CAUTION.

The road is drivable, and the landsliding that occurred in 2006 have been fixed. Some minor potholes can be found here and there. Ah! ignore the sign where it says the road is closed because they just forgot to take the sign down.

The road is in a horrible state, really to be avoided if possible… do not be fooled by the map… simply horible.

The road is in a overall good condition.

The road is an overall good condition, but has some minor potholes and differences in level.

The road is a bit of an adventure. There are potholes and differences in level. Drive carefully.

This road is in good condition, in some of the villages you should be more careful since there have been done some works that might have affected the road.

This road could use some repairs, and some are being done. A very nice reservation is to be found on this road, enjoy!

The road is in a fairly OK condition. Mind the traffic radars.

Fairly OK, occasional potholes, differences in level, and a few places are ongoing road construction.

The road is in good condition. Very rare small potholes and a few differences of level, nothing serious.

Some serious problems on this road. Plenty of big potholes, differences in level, some road construction. I recommend you avoid it if possible. For those wanting to see “Cetatea de Balta Fortress”, don’t bother, it is private property and can’t be visited :P.

Also known as the Transfagarasan Highway, this road is closed during the winter months (October untill end of June) from Cartisoara Cabin until Balea Cascada (waterfall), due to serious snow and danger of avalanches. When this road is open, on the side of the Vidraru lake, it could use some repairs (plenty of potholes), from Capra Cabin until Cartisoara, the road is in a good condition. Despite the not so good condition of the road… this is one road I will always do with pleasure as often as I can… GIVE IT A GO.

This road requires some repairs. Potholes are present, as well differences in level.

This road is in a good condition, but the traffic can be heavy at times. There is the possibility of rock sliding.

The road is in very good condition. Some road works are still ongoing, such as bridges (in Somova village).

The road is in a good condition, with a few minor potholes and slight changes of level. This road leads to the Ferry crossing over Danube to Galati.

The road is in good condition, a few minor potholes and changes of level. Be aware you wont be able to drive more than 50-60 kmph due to the close villages, carts and people on the road.

The road has differences of level and plenty of minor potholes.

The road is good, occasional potholes, and could require some repairs. No major problems.

Good condition until taking right on the small road leading to the monastery. From there, there are plenty of potholes and differences in level. Good thing it is only a few km.

Good condition, occasional differences in level, minor potholes

The road is in good condition until taking right towards the Agapia Monastery. From there you should mind the potholes, and drive with maximum 40 kmph

From Brasov until you reach the bridge pointing to Buzau, the road could use some repairs… it has been cement plaques since Ceausescu’s time. Once you go on the bridge towards Prejmer, the road is perfect.

The road is in a very good condition, nothing to report here, except to enjoy the scenery, and be careful in winter.

This road is in perfect condition from Bucharest to Ploiesti (with the exception of the ring around Ploiesti which has plenty of potholes) , and is 4 lane until Breaza and 2 from there until you reach Brasov. Occasional road works happen. Be careful during the weekends, the traffic is very heavy, so you might want to avoid this road, in order to not get stuck in traffic.

Occasional small potholes. Nothing else of major importance.

This road is not a very good one. You have potholes, some road works etc…Over all I did like the landscape quite a bit, so do not get scared by the road. The maximum speed I drove on this road was 80 kmph.

This road has seen better days. Plenty of potholes and differences in level. Drive with caution but don't forget to admire the landscape. It is amazing!

Drive with care, there are several potholes, and the road could use some attention, but it is drivable nonetheless.

The road is in a very good condition.

This road needs some repairs and some are taking place. There are potholes and differences in level.

The road is in a good condition. Nothing serious to report.

The road is under construction and while most of it is finished, some parts are still under serious works. Drive with caution!

The road is in good condition, though road works may occur.

The road is in a good condition. Nothing out of the ordinary regarding its condition. During the winter you should be well equipped since it might snow heavily. The landscape is gorgeous!

From Sibiu to Rasinari, you will pass Dumbrava forest, and the road is quite good until you exit Rasinari. From there, there are portions of the road that have some potholes. The landscape is worth it though.

This road is in good condition and I did not notice anything wrong with it.

The road is in perfect condition. Maybe one or two differences of level.

From Rupea to Dacia, the road has enough potholes, while from Dacia to Viscri and Bunesti, only has gravel. It is drivable, and it should not scare you if you want to visit Viscri… IT IS WORTH IT.

This road is using the ring around Ploiesti while coming from Buzau. The ring is only 2 lanes but in a very good condition. The rest of the road is excellent. Mind the speed cameras!

Road in good condition.

Road in excellent condition. Amazing landscapes!

If you are up for off-roading, than this is the road for you. It is rarely asphalted in a few villages with plenty of potholes, but for about 20-30 km, there is only gravel. ATTENTION!!! To be avoided.

The road is an OK condition. There are potholes and differences in level, but luckily the distance is not that long.

At the time this road was not the best one, and road construction was taking place. If you have any updates, let me know.

The road is in a good condition. Minor potholes and differences in level may occur.

The road is in a good condition.

The road is in good condition.
